Stop, Go animation

We used our Buddy time to have a go at 'Stop-Go' animation. We worked with partners from Room 10 and attempted to make a small event/story using playdough, a set and the chromebooks. 'Stop-Go animation takes a picture of a scene, you then move the characters very slightly, take another picture, to gradually create a short film. We soon realised that patience is important, and got better not to show too much of our hands.

Senior Cross Country

On Wednesday, the Senior syndicate took to Fairfield Park to embark on a tough 2.5km circuit. The challenging course involved tough uphills, winding bends, slippery grass and a lot of positive spirits! It was an amazing spectacle to see so many seniors cheering on their peers, and lots of smiles throughout a cold, brisk nelson afternoon. The Seniors have been following a weekly cross-country training regime, supporting their own individual goals for the whole of term 2. It's been a remarkable success seeing everyone complete the race with smiles on their faces and supported by their classmates.

Tree Planting at Piper's reserve

On Tuesday, Room 4 took the long hike up towards Piper's Reserve to help in a tree-planting celebration. The class worked cooperatively and enthusiastically to plant 208 saplings. The native trees were being planted to support the native birds and develop our local eco-system. We had a great day out, even meeting some intimidating 8-legged arachnids along the way!

Round the World Maths

In Maths this week, we've been working out the distances around the world. We planned our destinations of our OE, choosing a place in each continent. Next we used Google Maps and measured the distance and then calculated the cost of flights.

Finally we added up the total cost of flights and distance.
