Patterson Swimming and the HSS Swimming gala

The last 2 weeks, room 4 have been fortunate enough to receive professional coaching from Patterson swimming coaches. The trainers have been very impressed by the hardwork, dedication and ultimately progress shown by all pupils from room 4.

We have focussed on freestyle, breast-stroke and Backstroke. Some groups have even progressed onto Butterfly, tumble-turns, with a big improvement in our diving!

Jujitsu in Room 4

As part of Kallan's Genius Hour project, the class took part in an excellent practical demonstration of self-defense and the Brazilian based martial arts - 'Jujitsu'.

Kallan was joined by Ryan (his Dad) and John, whom are both experts in the activity. They performed an exciting demonstration of ancient methods and explained why we use Jujitsu in the real world.

Kallan was able to teach the class different techniques involving 'the Shrimp', 'the Gorilla', and a variety of rolling techniques.

Anyone interested in getting involved in Brazilian Jujitsu should come along for a free first session, or checkout the website below for more information. It's a great opportunity for all the family to learn new skills, in a safe friendly environment.

Sharing your work in a different way

Courtesy of Mr Ashby in Room 5, he has designed a rather creative way of presenting your work.

Do you know how to use all these applications?

Why not try a new way of presenting your work?

Senior Swimming Gala 2015

On Monday afternoon, the senior Swimming Gala proved a major success under the strong Nelson sun. The competition was fierce, with some outstanding swimming on display. It was great to see so many people competing, and the support amongst the syndicate was truly impressive.

Children were separated into age categories, with boys and girls competing in Freestyle, backstroke, breast-stroke and for the endurance swimmers, a testing 3x25m freestyle. Room 2 proved victorious in the hotly contested class relay, paddling to victory at an electric pace.

Well done to all those that competed, those that supported, cheered and clapped their peers to victory. Particular credit must be also given to the parents that volunteered their services and the smooth operation of such a big event.
